Charles C. English

Charles Crawford English, 99, formerly of Beaver, died Monday evening at Cambridge Village in Patterson Heights, Beaver County.

Born Aug. 22, 1907, in Harmony, he was a son of Crawford Arthur and Minnie B. English.

He had been a resident of Beaver for 71 years before to moving to Cambridge Village with his wife in 2002.

For 35 years, he was well known as the owner/operator of the Texaco Service Station at Third and Orchard streets in Beaver.

He was a 76-year member of the Grace Lutheran Church, Rochester, and was active as a Sunday school superintendent, a member of the church council and a delegate to the synod.

He is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, James D. and Mary Lou English of Cumming, Ga.; a son-in-law, Glenn S. Weller of Brighton Township, Beaver County; four grandchildren, Cheryl Weller-Anderson (Garland-Jon) of Tucson, Ariz., Neal Weller of Brighton Township, Susan Reeder of Atlanta, Ga., and Dr. James Alan English (Ardienne) of Upper St. Clair; five great-grandchildren; two step-great-granddaughters, and two step-great-great-grandsons.

He is also survived by a sister, Grace English of Butler; a stepsister, Phyllis Erdner of Elkton, Md.; three nieces, Betty Baker of Beaver, Thelma Lutz of Ellwood City and Jean Bricmont of Murrysville; and a nephew, Alton Dobson of New Middletown, Ohio.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 75 years, Bertha Irene English; a brother, Col. Leroy S. English; a sister, Essie May Vinroe; a daughter, Annabelle Lee Weller, and a granddaughter, Lou Ann English.

<B>ENGLISH</B> — Friends of Charles Crawford English, who died Monday, Dec. 18, 2006, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the <B>J.T. Anderson Funeral Home</B>, 205 College Ave., Beaver. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home with the Rev. Gregory Clagg, his church pastor, officiating.In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Grace Lutheran Church, 393 Adams St., Rochester, PA 15074; or to the Good Samaritan Hospice, 3500 Brooktree Road, Suite 200, Wexford, PA 15090.
