Fred C. 'Bud' Salsgiver

Fred C. "Bud" Salsgiver, 80, of Worthington died Sunday at ACMH Hospital.

Born May 20, 1926 in Kittanning, he was the son of Clarence F. and Anna Mauk Salsgiver.

He was a retired brick maker at Drexel Refractories for 38 years.

He served in the Coast Guard during World War II. He was a member of the Walkchalk Salem Baptist Church and the Kittanning Church of Christ.

He enjoyed reading his Bible, listening to music, traveling, watching old movies, and working crossword puzzles. He also was an avid hunter and fisherman and liked spending time with his family.

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy V. Beighley-Gray Salsgiver, whom he married Nov. 22, 1986. Also surviving are two sons, Mike Salsgiver (Sue) of Waldo, Fla. and Randy Salsgiver (Barb) of Kittanning; two daughters, Susan Hodak (Charles) of Butler and Joy Dias (Edward) of Gainesville, Fla; three stepdaughters, Cindy Craig (Terry) of Kittanning, Linda Gauker (Dewey) of Ford City, and Bonnie Morales (Stephen) of Paradise, Calif; a stepson, Ronald Grey (Brenda) of Kittanning; a brother, Earl Salsgiver of Kittanning; a sister, Margaret Bowser of Beaver Falls; 18 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Dolores Mechling Salsgiver; two infant daughters; seven sisters and a brother.

<B>SALSGIVER</B> — Friends of Fred C. "Bud" Salsgiver, who died Sunday, Dec. 17, 2006, will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the <B>Kennedy and Blodgett Funeral Home, </B>253 N. Grant Ave., Kittanning. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with the Rev. Steven Wilson of Walkchalk Salem Baptist Church.Burial will be in Mt. Zion Cemetery in Boggs Township.The family suggests memorial donations be made to the American Lung Association.
