1:36 a.m. today — John Larsen, 48, of Butler was arrested for driving under the influence on Pillow Street. He was also cited for a stop sign violation.Sunday — Police arrested Robert Fry, 27, for allegedly choking his girlfriend, Anna Bayer, 18, during a domestic dispute the previous day at the couple's Virginia Avenue apartment.Fry, who is in Butler County Prison on $25,000 bond, is charged with aggravated assault and harassment.Bayer told police that Fry shoved her to the ground at about 2 p.m. Saturday and began to strangle her with both hands around her throat. He allegedly choked Bayer for about one minute before she hit his arm with a jar filled with coins that she managed to grab.She got out of the apartment and called her mother. Police were later called to Butler Memorial Hospital, where Bayer was being treated for injuries.Police learned she suffered blood in the eye, caused when she was choked. She also had scratches around her left eye and bruises on her neck and chin area.State police were called to assist and on Sunday arrested Fry at his mother's home in Winfield Township.8:10 a.m. Friday — Timothy Mainhart, 22, of Jefferson Township was arrested for DUI after his car collided with another vehicle at Morton and Cottage Hill avenues.Darlene Hannush, 56, of Butler, the other driver, was taken with minor injuries to Butler Memorial Hospital.In addition to DUI, police cited Mainhart for driving too fast for conditions, careless driving, accidents involving injury while not properly licensed, driving with a suspended license, and driving on the wrong side of the road.
12:18 a.m. today — A car driven by Christopher Huerbin, no age given, of Evans City skidded into a guardrail on Watters Station Road in Forward Township.10:15 p.m. Tuesday — Acar driven by Charles Varganson, 49, of Sharon, Mercer County, skidded into a guardrail on Interstate 79 in Worth Township.5:44 p.m. Tuesday — Acar driven by Lawrence Quillian, 66, of Sharon and a school bus driven by Scott Alben, no age given, of Slippery Rock collided on Route 422 and North Road in Franklin Township. Neither driver was injured and there were no passengers in either vehicle.7:45 a.m. Tuesday — A vehicle driven by Christine Brady, 35, of Vienna, Ohio, slid off snow-covered Route 308, traveled down an embankment and struck a tree in Marion Township.7:04 a.m. Tuesday — A car driven by Kathryn Locktosh, no age given, of Grove City slid through a stop sign and collided with a mini-van at Route 58 and Tieline Road in Mercer Township. Locktosh, who was wearing a seat belt, suffered minor injuries. Paul Bordas, no age given, of West Sunbury was driving the van.6:55 a.m. Tuesday — A school bus driven by Marilyn Altman, 61, of Cabot struck a car at Bonniebrook and Great Belt roads in Jefferson Township. The collision forced the car, driven by Paul Kaufman, 43, of Parker into a pickup truck driven by Jason Weber, 21, of Butler.No injuries were reported in the crash. Police noted there were four students on the bus. Police cited Altman for failing to stop at a stop sign.6:50 a.m. Tuesday — A pickup truck driven by Brian Capello, 22, of Slippery Rock and a car driven by Lynsey Bleicher, 20, of Butler Township collided on snow-covered North Duffy Road near Cornell Drive in Center Township.6:10 a.m. Tuesday — A sport utility vehicle driven by Cletus Miller, 39, of West Sunbury skidded off snow-covered Route 422 in Muddy Creek Township and rolled onto its side.Monday — Someone stole ametal garbage can from the McGrady Hollow Road home of Leola Ogin in Summit Township between 8 p.m. Sunday and 8 a.m. Monday.12:15 a.m. Sunday — Michael Ball, 21, of Washington Township was arrested for allegedly breaking into a Summit Township home and assaulting 40-year-old Karl Jageman.Police said Ball forced his way into Jageman's apartment at Eastwood Village, and then struck the victim in the face. Jageman was treated at Butler Memorial for a cut to the face and a broken finger.Ball was arraigned on charges of burglary and simple assault, and was placed in Butler County Prison on $5,000 bond.11 p.m. Saturday — Two boys were arrested for allegedly spray-painting a church, bank and several traffic signs in Harrisville.Atrooper on patrol spotted the boys, a 17-year-old from Slippery Rock and a 16-year-old from Harrisville, and two other youths dressed in black clothing and acting "suspicious,"a police report said.The teens ran but the trooper was able to detain the 16-year-old. Police later found the 17-year-old, whose hands were covered in black paint.Police said both suspects admitted they spray-painted Harrisville United Methodist Church, two entry signs at the First National Bank drive-through, two stop signs and three other traffic signs near South Church Street.The boys, not identified by police, face charges in juvenile court, including institutional vandalism and criminal mischief.Police noted the investigation continues. Anyone with information in the case is asked to call the barracks at 724-284-8100.11:40 p.m. Jan. 3 — Susan Hillard, 23, of Avalon, Allegheny County, lost control of her sport utility vehicle after hitting a deer and collided with a car on Interstate 79 in Marshall Township, Allegheny County. Daniel Johnson Jr., 36, of Youngstown, Ohio, was driving the car.
