Harry A. Masters III
Harry Andrew Masters III, 58, formerly of Butler, died Nov. 21 at his home in Coppell, Texas.
Born Nov. 6, 1948, in Butler, he was the son of the late Harry A. Masters, who died in 1970, and the late Mildred V. Masters Walker.
He was a graduate of Butler High School and Thiel College. He was awarded the first William Campbell Trophy for basketball as a senior at Butler High. He also played varsity basketball at Thiel.
Mr. Masters was the assistant director of the National Council of Senior Citizens in Washington, D.C., before moving to Texas in the late 1970s.
He continued to play basketball and to coach youth basketball and soccer in the Washington, D.C., area and in Texas.
He was a former member of St. Mark's Evangelical Lutheran. He was a member of the Martin United Methodist Church in Bedford, Texas, where he taught Sunday school and worked with the youth of the church.
Surviving are two daughters, Whitney Masters of Bedford, Texas, and Jordan Masters of Euliss, Texas; two sisters, Mrs. Lynn (Susan) Sontum of Saxonburg and Karen Masters of North Carolina; a stepsister, Mrs. Ross (Carole) Dunton of Tennessee; and a number of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his stepfather, Victor Walker.
