Virginia L. Smith, 67, of 575 Mercer Road died early Sunday morning at her home.

Born in Butler, July 2, 1939, she was the daughter of the late Leonard S. and Dorothy DeRita Codispot.

She was a homemaker and formerly had worked at the Spaide Shirt Factory and the Willard Hotel.

Mrs. Smith was a member of St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church.

Surviving are her husband, Paul E. Smith, to whom she was married for 48 years; a son, Douglas E. Smith of Butler; three daughters, Glenda Day, Mrs. David (Terri) Klutinoty and Mrs. Randy (Susan) Blumling, all of Butler; three brothers, Joseph Codispot of California and Michael A. and Leonard Codispot, both of Butler; and a sister, Mrs. Madeline "Midge" Freehling of Saxonburg. Nine grandchildren also survive.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, two sisters and a brother.

<B>Smith </B>— Friends of Virginia L. Smith, who died Sunday, Dec. 3, 2006, will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. today and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at <B>Martin Funeral Home</B>, 429 Center Ave. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Michael Roman Catholic Church, Center Avenue, with the Rev. James Dolan officiating. Burial will be at the St. Michael Cemetery.The Bereavement Group of St. Michael Parish will hold a scriptural wake service at 3 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
