Hugh H. "Jim" Sowers, 77, of Cabot, formerly of Glenshaw, went to be with the Lord Sunday afternoon at the Butler Memorial Hospital.

Born in Pittsburgh, Feb. 9, 1929, he was the son of Hugh Penn "Babe" and Mary Hielman Sowers.

He had been a Prudential Insurance agent in Etna for more than 30 years. He then was an independent real estate agent for Allegheny Northern Realty and West Realty.

Mr. Sowers attended the Bethany Baptist Church in Worthington, He was a former, longtime member of the Etna Rotary Club.

He was an avid hunter.

Surviving are his beloved wife, June Eyman Sowers, whom he married Nov. 22, 1950; three daughters, Gwen Sowers of Saxonburg, Mrs. Steven (Sally) Chernick of Mahwah, N.J., and Mrs. Bernd (Faith) Nussdorfer of Butler; three sons, Hugh James Sowers (Cheryl), of Buffalo, N.Y., Eric Sowers (Colleen) of Weddington, N.C., and Daniel Sowers (Fiona) of Mars; and a sister, Mrs. Tom (Elizabeth) Hibler of Thousand Oaks, Calif.

He also is survived by 22 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and four nieces and a nephew.
