Abortion issues
Kevin of Renfrew asks about the psychological problems associated with women who have an abortion. It is simply false to believe that every woman who has an abortion ends up with a psychological condition. In fact, women who carry a pregnancy to term grudgingly are more likely to have psychological issues. The fact that some women may have psychological repercussions from the decision to have an abortion does not support making the decision to have abortion illegal, it only supports that the decision to proceed should be an informed one.
To answer Mandy: although I am not woman and have never claimed to know what a woman contemplating abortion goes through, I believe it is a woman's right to make that decision free from governement intervention. A fetus has no right to life, only individuated human beings (not physiologically connected to another human) have the right to life. Any woman's choice to carry a pregnancy to term or to abort it should be a voluntary choice made, ultimately, by the woman whose body is involved.
I also would like to express my complete agreement with the sentiments in Cindy of Franklin Township's and Jared of Butler's posts.
