Here are facts about the Butler County Family YMCA, which oversees the Southwest Butler County YMCA and has built the Rose E. Schneider Family YMCA in Cranberry Township.
• The number of members served in 2005 was 8,868.
• Membership is 50 percent male and 50 percent female.
• The YMCA served 7,655 youths in 2005.
• The YMCA served 19,085 people enrolled in activities in 2005.
• The Big Brothers and Big Sisters Program of Butler County continues to expand — 59 children were served in 2005 through its Core One-to-One Mentoring Program and 64 children through the COUL Club of Unmatched Littles Program.
• In 2005, the Big Brothers and Big Sisters Program had its 11th annual Bowl For Kids' Sake, which raised $28,528 and had its fifth annual Fore the Children Golf Classic, which raised $22,254.
• The YMCA gave financial aid to 785 recipients, valued at $120,258.
• Program volunteers contributed 18,356 hours, valued at $165,114.
• The volunteer board and committees contributed 1,416 hours, valued at $39,648.
• The YMCA served 2,468 youth in its swimming program.
• The YMCA provided youth sports for 3,695 youngsters.
• The YMCA offered before and after school child care services in the Butler, Seneca Valley and the South Butler school districts as well as at the Butler YMCA site. The child care centers provided care for 781 children in 2005.
• It provided free meeting space to 13 community groups and charitable organizations, valued at $11,853.
• It provided 75 group fitness, land or water, cardiovascular or strength programs. Total participation exceeded 18,000 people in 2005.
