Beckett 40th anniversary
Jay and Clara Beckett of Kittanning, formerly of Slate Lick, will celebrate 40 years of marriage with an open house from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the American Legion Post 828, Old Route 422, Worthington.
The former Clara Hirtz married Beckett July 26, 1966, at the Presbyterian Church in Winchester, Va.
They have six daughters, Linda Scott of Sterling, Alaska; Denise Waltman of Ford City; Beverly Rice and Faith Shaw, both of Kittanning; Sherry Bliss of Rimersburg; and Mary Ann Rice of West Kittanning.
They also have 13 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
Beckett is retired from Du-Co Ceramics in Saxonburg. Aveteran of the Navy, he served from 1952 to 1956 during the Korean Conflict. He belongs to Slate Lick United Presbyterian Church, American Legion Post 828, Armstrong County Legion Honor Guard and American Legion of Armstrong County.
Mrs. Beckett is also retired from Du-Co Ceramics. She belongs to St. Lawrence Roman Catholic Church in Cadogan, where she participates in the Altar Society. She is also a member of the Ladies of the American Legion.
