Nancy and Joseph Foster

Joseph and Nancy Foster of Butler celebrated 50 years of marriage with a picnic for family and friends at North Park in Wexford. AMass was celebrated Sunday at St. Matthias Roman Catholic Church in Evans City.

The former Nancy Kirch married Foster Sept. 1, 1956, at St. Canice Roman Catholic Church in Pittsburgh.

They have 10 children, Christine Robinson of Fairborn, Ohio; Joe Foster and Danny Foster, both of Jacksonville, Fla.; Jerry Foster of Ellwood City; Tom Foster of Valencia; Charlie Foster of Grove City; Paul Foster of Evans City; Jane Ott of Butler; Peter Foster of Dormont and Jill Foster of West Mifflin.

They also have 18 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Another grandchild is deceased.

Foster worked for 27 years as a welder for Dravo in Neville Island and for nine years as a machinist for Goss Gas in Glenshaw, retiring in 2002.

Mrs. Foster is a homemaker and former secretary for Goss Gas, retiring in 2002 after 10 years.

The couple belongs to St. Andrew's Roman Catholic Church and the AARP.
