Mabel R. Meier

Mabel Ruth Thompson Meier, 91, formerly of Carbon Street and Angert's Personal Care Home in Butler, died at 1:55 a.m. Monday at the Chicora Medical Center.

Born Sept. 4, 1914, in Butler, she was the daughter of Jesse Clare and Mabel Jessie Sanderson Thompson.

Mrs. Meier was a homemaker and had lived in the same house on Carbon Street for 89 years.

She was a lifelong member of the Hill United Presbyterian Church. She also was a member of the Queen Elizabeth Lodge of Rebekah's Lodge 463, joining on March 8, 1949.

She enjoyed sewing, quilting and her family. She also enjoyed taking fishing trips to Rice Lake in Canada.

Surviving are a son, David Carl Meier of Butler; a daughter, Mrs. David W. (Brenda) Jacox of Butler; a grandson, David W. Jacox Jr. and his wife, Sharon; three granddaughters and their husbands, Lorri and Matt Sheakley of Harrisville and Christy and Gregg Beer and Heidi and Ryan Christy, all of Butler.

Also surviving are 11 great-grandchildren, Courtney Meier, Samantha, Gregory and Brendan Beer, Ashley, Benjamin and Nicholas Jacox and Jesse Sheakley, Alysis, Isaiah and Ruri Christy; and a number of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl A. Meier, who died April 3, 1981, and by three sisters.

<B>MEIER </B>— Friends of Mabel Ruth Thompson Meier, who died Monday, May 8, 2006, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the <B>Thompson-Miller Funeral Home</B>, 124 E. North St. Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with the Rev. Stephen Cahoon, pastor of Meridian United Presbyterian Church, officiating.
