1:21 a.m. Sunday — Joseph Ballew, 40, of Butler was arrested for driving under the influence on West Cunningham Street. He was also cited for a flashing signal violation.Midnight Saturday — Edward Helms, 42, of Aliquippa, Beaver County was arrested for driving under the influence on South Washington Street.8:59 p.m. Friday — Michael Summerill Jr., 19, of Valencia was arrested for driving under the influence at Campbell and Jackson streets.Summerill was also driving a car with a license plate previously reported stolen, and he was found with suspected marijuana, according to a police report.He is charged with DUI, receiving stolen property, possession of a small amount of marijuana, and other undisclosed traffic violations.Four passengers in the car, all juveniles that police did not identify, were cited for underage drinking.4:17 p.m. Friday — A car driven by Margaret Wisda, 58, of Cabot and a van driven by Tammy Pengryn, 42, of Butler collided at South Main and James streets. Wisda, who was wearing a seat belt, suffered minor injuries.
Monday — Two people were injured when their dirt bike slammed into a tree along DuffyRoad near Route 173 in Brady Township.Police said Nathan Fajohn, 36, of Slippery Rock, the driver, and Amber Edwards, 30, of Harrisville, a passenger, were both thrown off the bike; neither was wearing a helmet.Edwards suffered serious injuries and Fajohn suffered moderate injuries; both were flown by medical helicopter and taken to unknown hospitals.Police noted that the bike was speeding and had no lights on after dark, just before the crash.Monday — Police are investigating a pair of break-ins at Summit Township businesses.Assorted power tools valued at $1,325 were taken in one of the burglaries, between 4 p.m. Friday and 7:30 a.m. Monday, at Refractory Machine Services on East Butler Road.In the other burglary between 10 a.m. Saturday and 8:30 p.m. Sunday at Crider Repair Services on Bonniebrook Road, 20 inspection stickers, about $120 in change and a mini refrigerator were taken.Noon Sunday — Terry McDougall, 42, of Slippery Rock is accused of throwing a cell phone at Mary McDougall, 44, of Slippery Rock during an argument at an Applewood Lane home in Slippery Rock Township. The phone hit the woman in the face; she suffered minor injuries.The relationship between the suspect and victim was not noted in a police report. Terry McDougall is charged with simple assault and harassment.4 a.m. Sunday — A14-year-old girl told police that a 19-year-old Pittsburgh man had indecent contact with her at a camp on Timber Lane in Allegheny Township. Police said they continue to investigate the complaint.3 a.m. Sunday — Charges are pending against three woman involved in a fight during a field party on Old East Butler Road in Summit Township.Police did not identify the suspects, all of Butler, who are accused of assaulting Amanda Boulanger, 19, of Butler. Boulanger suffered moderate injuries to the head, chest and wrist; she was treated at Butler Memorial Hospital.Also assaulted during a separate altercation at the same party was Colleen McCabe, 46, of Butler, who was treated for minor injuries at the Butler hospital.But police said McCabe became unruly as she was treated for the injuries at the emergency room. She was later cited for public drunkenness.1:10 a.m. Sunday — Copeland Tyler, 37, of Pittsburgh was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence on Route 356 at the Moraine Pointe Plaza in
11:18 a.m. Saturday — A pickup truck driven by Michael Collier, 36, of Chicora and a sport utility vehicle driven by James McConnell, 74, of Moon Township,Allegheny County, collided at Routes 38 and 68 in Summit Township. Collier was cited for a traffic control violation.1:10 p.m. Saturday — A pickup truck driven by David Irwin, 46, of East Brady struck a utility pole along Route 58 in Allegheny Township, and caught fire. Irwin suffered only minor injuries.3:14 a.m. Saturday — A car driven by Nicole Bastide, 22, of Ellwood City, Lawrence County, hit a small hillside and rolled onto its side along Interstate 79 in Worth Township. Bastide, who was wearing a seat belt, suffered minor injuries. She was cited for an undisclosed traffic violation.10:30 p.m. Friday — A pickup truck driven by Stephen Christie, 21, of Prospect struck a tree and large rock along Shannon Road near Route 68 in Connoquenessing Township.Friday — An unknown commercial vehicle hit a utility pole in the Kerr's Furniture parking lot on Route 8 in Center Township. The hit-and-run-crash occurred between 12:01 and 4:30 a.m.Friday — A Hewlett-Packard laptop computer valued at $400 and 30 DVDs valued at $300 were taken between 6 p.m. May 22 and 11 p.m. Friday in a burglary at the Margaret Avenue home of Ryan Hartzell in Forward Township.4:30 a.m. Thursday — Vehicles driven by Joseph Frye, 23, of Butler and Martin McCommon, 44, of Renfrew collided on Route 8 in Clay Township. Frye was cited for an undisclosed traffic violation.
Sunday — Gary Leroy Claypoole, 37, was arrested for allegedly assaulting his wife, Teresa Claypoole, 34, during a domestic dispute at their Edwards Trailer Park home in West Franklin Township, Armstrong County.Claypoole was arraigned on charges of simple assault and placed in the Armstrong County Jail in lieu of $2,500 bond. Teresa Claypoole suffered minor injuries in the assault.8:40 p.m. Saturday — Brett Minarcin, 32, of Ford City was arrested for driving under the influence after his car crashed into an embankment on the Route 422 off-ramp in Manor Township, Armstrong County
6:50 p.m. Friday — A pickup truck driven by Gabriel Rigney, 20, of Grove City slid off rain-soaked Elliot Road near Route 173 in Wolf Creek Township, Mercer County, and rolled onto it side. Rigney was cited for driving too fast for conditions.Monday — About 20 compact discs, a cell phone and $45 were taken between 1 and 3:30 p.m. from a car parked at the Kennedy Mill's Bridge in Slippery Rock Township, Lawrence County.The owners of the stolen property, David and Jessica Hamilton, both of Evans City, were swimming when the theft occurred.
