Angela Byrnes, daughter of Joseph and LuAnn Byrnes of Butler, has been awarded a full scholarship to attend Pennsylvania Free Enterprise Week 2006 at Lycoming College.Ajunior at Butler High School, she will attend the third of four week-long sessions of the economic education program.———

Corey Stowitzky, son of Paul and Julie Stowitzky of Waynesburg and grandson of Paul and Mamie Miller of Chicora, has been selected to perform with The Sound of America Band and Chorus.Amember of the Waynesburg High School Concert Band, Marching Band, Jazz Band and Steel Drum Ensemble, he in the 2005 recipient of the band's Director's Award.Members of The Sound of America Band and Chorus will begin a European concert tour in July.

<B>Janelle Thompson</B>, a senior at Butler Area High School, was recently selected to participate in the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra's Side-By-Side concert held Wednesday at Heinz Hall.Thompson was one of 67 students chosen based on their musical abilities, recommendation from their local directors, extra-curricular musical activities and experience and maturity.Thompson has played the violin for nine years. She is the current concertmistress for the Butler Senior High Orchestra as well as The Butler Symphonette Orchestra. She is also a member of the Butler Strolling Strings. She studies under the guidance of Seth McCall, Mary Huegel, and Andrew Yaracs. She is the daughter of Lee Mason and Lisa Doutt-Mason.———St. Joseph High School students <B>Jason Shetler</B> and <B>Elizabeth Fioravanti</B> received awards at the Pennsylvania Regional Science and Engineering Fair held recently at Heinz Field.Shetler, son of Joseph and Denise Shetler of Sarver, received a bronze medal in the senior division of the physics category.Fioravanti, daughter of Fred and Bobbi Fioravanti of Cabot, received the Perseverance Award/Associate Scientist Trophy and the St. Francis University Science Fair Scholarship, worth $8,000.———Clarion University students <B>Staci Blair,</B> <B>Thomas McMeekin IV</B> and <B>Amanda Nebel</B> were recently named to Who's Who Among Students in American Colleges and Universities.Blair, the daughter of Mary Blair of Rimersburg, is a graduate of Redbank Valley High School and a recent graduate of Clarion University, earning a degree in secondary education/English.McMeekin, son of Thomas and Karen McMeekin of Butler, is a graduate of Butler High School. He is a communications major at Clarion.Nebel is the daughter of Darrell Nebel of Cabot. Agraduate of Knoch High School, she is pursuing a degree in music education.———<B>Patrick West</B> of Chicora, son of Paul West and Rodger and Katrina Moore, has been accepted to Edinboro University for the fall, 2006 term.Astudent in the Pennsylvania Cyber Charter School, West is involved in track and enjoys car restoration.West plans to pursue a degree in business administration.———<B>Benjamin Jarrett</B>, son of Ken and Terri Jarrett of Harmony, was recently inducted into the Kappa Mu Epsilon national mathematics organization.A2004 graduate of Slippery Rock High School, he is a student at Westminster College, pursuing a degree in mathematics.———<B>Cody Holt</B>, son of Jeffrey and Sharon Holt of Petrolia, has been accepted to Edinboro University for the fall 2006 semester.Asenior at Moniteau High School, he is active in Teens Against Tobacco Use, the Academic Sports League, United States Academic Decathalon and the track and field team.Holt plans to pursue a degree in forensic science.Amanda Fair, daughter of Kathleen Fair of East Brady, was recently inducted into the Phi Kappa Phi honor society at Clarion University.An elementary education/ early childhood major, she is a graduate of Karns City High School.———<B>Jonathan Miller</B> of Sarver has received the 2006 Division of Student Life Award for Excellence in Student Leadership at Duquesne University.He is a biology and chemistry major, graduating from the Bayer School of Natural and Environmental Sciences.———Indiana (Pa.) University students <B>Tara Bly</B>and <B>Leah Bugelholl</B> were recently inducted to the Alpha Kappa Delta international honor society for sociology majors.Bly is the daughter of Jeff and Amy Bly of Chicora.Bugelholl is the daughter of Tracy and Sally Shultz of Cowansville.Both are graduates of Karns City High School.
