John C. Kelly

John C. Kelly of Petrolia died Sunday at the Chicora Medical Center.

The Karns City native was a 1956 graduate of the University of Pittsburgh and passed the Pennsylvania CPA exam in 1959.

During World War II, he served with Army Co. K, 30th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Division. He campaigned at Naples-Foggia and Rome-Arno, was wounded in action March 14, 1944, and received a Purple Heart at 19th Headquarters 300th General Hospital. He also was awarded two Overseas Service Bars and the European African Middle Eastern Theater Service Medal with 1 Bronze Service Star.

He had worked for a national CPA firm for several years, was treasurer of a Pittsburgh corporation and was treasurer of McCall Inc. of Petrolia. He belonged to the American and Pennsylvania institutes of CPAs.

Mr. Kelly also belonged to Victory Lodge 694 F&AM of Butler, the Scottish Rite of New Castle, the Syria Shrine Temple of Pittsburgh and several social, sporting and veterans clubs.

He was an avid hunter and had collected several trophies.

Surviving are a daughter, Cheryl L. Dube of Edinboro; a grandson; and a sister.

Three sisters preceded him in death.

<B>KELLY </B>— There will be no visitation or funeral service for John C. Kelly, who died Sunday, April 2, 2006. Arrangements are being handled by the <B>Charles Buechele Funeral Home</B>, East Brady.
