James E. Christy
James E. Christy, 60, of Cherry Township died unexpectedly Monday morning at his home.
Born in Butler, Aug. 26, 1945, he was a son of the late Cecil C. and Cathryn E. McCool Christy.
He retired in 1993 from the International Labor Union after 38 years and was a member of Local 323 in Butler.
Mr. Christy served in the Army during the Vietnam War.
He was an active outdoors sportsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He also loved spending time with his three grandchildren.
Surviving are his wife, Susan Eckenrode Christy, whom he married Oct. 31, 1968; a son, Brian E. Christy of Hilliards; two daughters, Teresa A. and Jennifer S. Christy, both of Slippery Rock; and three grandchildren, Brittney L., Laney S. and Derek B. Christy. Three brothers, Kenneth W. and Raymond L. Christy, both of Butler, and Donald E. Christy of Apollo; four sisters, Mary E. DeFelice and Cathryn A. Hilliard, both of Butler, Mrs. Donald (Gladys) Cousins of Meridian and Mrs. Wesley (Emma) Eckenrode of Callery; and numerous nieces and nephews also survive.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Robert C. Christy.

Christy, who died Monday, March 13, 2006, will be received at from 7 to 9 p.m. today and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the <B>GEIBEL FUNERAL HOME</B>, 201 E. Cunningham St. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home with the Rev. A. James Lewis officiating.
