Birckbichler, Smith

Chicora residents Carrie Birckbichler and Darrell Smith were united in marriage at 2 p.m. Sept. 10 at St. Wendelin Roman Catholic Church in Butler. The Rev. Kevin McKnight officiated. A reception followed at Highfield Hall.

The bride is the daughter of Stephen and Donna Birckbichler of Chicora. Parents of the bridegroom are Douglas and Susan Smith of Linesville.

The matron of honor was Carrie Birckbichler of Butler. Bridesmaids included Michelle Smith of Linesville and SaraBeth Swain and Amanda Alwine, both of Butler. The flower girl was Kayla Olinger of Portersville.

Serving the bridegroom as best man was the groom's brother, Doug Smith of Harmony. Ushers included Brian Smith of Linesville, Brian Birckbichler of Butler and Ben Chapin of Chicago. The ring bearer was Levi Smith of Harmony.

The bride is a 1997 graduate of Butler High School and a 2002 graduate of Slippery Rock University, earning bachelor of science degrees in mathematics and safety and environmental management. She works at Nalco Chemical Company in Ellwood City.

The bridegroom graduated in 1997 from Linesville High School and in 2004 from Slippery Rock University, earning a bachelor of science degree in health and physical education. He works as a physical education teacher in the Butler School District. A member of the Seabees Division of the Naval Reserves, he recently completed a year of service in Iraq.

The couple made a honeymoon trip to Disneyworld and is residing in Chicora.
