Hartzell, Purvis

Evans City residents Ashley Hartzell and Zachary Purvis were united in marriage at 3:30 p.m. Aug. 20 at St. John's United Church of Christ in Evans City. The Rev. Bryan Gratton officiated. A reception followed at Hindman Hall.

The bride is the daughter of Dennis and Frannie Hartzell of Slippery Rock and Kevin and Carolyn Smith of Evans City. Parents of the bridegroom are Robert Purvis and Beverly Purvis, both of Evans City.

The maid of honor was Shannon Rausch of Butler. Bridesmaids included Katie Purvis of Evans City, Theresa Ratay of Renfrew, Brandy Book of Portersville and Brenda Schlichtkrull of Zelienople. The flower girl was Phoebe Bowers of Evans City.

Serving the bridegroom as best man was Benjamin Purvis of Evans City. Ushers included Joe Fichter of Harmony; John Westerman and Ryan Hartzell, both of Evans City; and Matt Hartzell of Charlotte, N.C. The ring bearer was Logan Book of Portersville.

The bride is a 2001 graduate of Seneca Valley High School and a 2003 graduate of the Butler County Community College School of Nursing. She works at the Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh.

The groom is a 2000 graduate of Seneca Valley High School. He served in the Marine Corps from 2001 to 2005 and is currently employed at Black Knight Heating and Cooling in Evans City.

Following a honeymoon trip to Aruba, the couple is making their home in Rochester.
