Emelyn Ladia of Cebu City, Philippines, and Jeffrey Higgins of Clinton Township, Mich., were united in marriage at 3:30 p.m. Sept. 8 at St. Paul Roman Catholic Church in Butler. The Rev. Harry Bielewicz officiated. A reception followed at the Lake Arthur Country Club.

The bride is the daughter of Eduardo and Juanita Ladia of Cebu City. Parents of the bridegroom are Kenneth and Sylvia Higgins, both of Butler.

The bride is a 1989 graduate of St. Theresa's College. She works for Nation Printing Press in Mandaue City, Cebu, Philippines.

The groom is a 1993 graduate of Butler High School and a 1997 graduate of Penn State Erie, The Behrend College. He works for Moldflow in Clinton Township.

Following a honeymoon trip to Florida, the couple is making their home in Clinton Township.
