Farm-City Banquet will be on Nov. 14
The Farm-City Banquet will be held on Nov. 14 at Butler County Community College's Convocation Center. Refreshments will begin at 6 p.m. with dinner being served at 6:30 p.m.
The Farm-City Banquet's goal is to foster communication between rural and urban communities. The event is co-sponsored by the Butler Rotary, the Butler County Conservation District, the Penn State Cooperative Extension, the Farm Service Agency and other agricultural agencies.
The evening's speaker will be Frank Matis, director of the county's Emergency Management Program. Matis will discuss the program's goals in the aftermath of the terrorist attacks on Sept. 11, 2001.
Another highlight of the evening will be the presentation of several environmental awards. Included in that is the Bullshipper Award, which recognizes a member of the community that has worked to promote good relations between rural and urban communities.
Also, the 2005 Farm Tour hosts will be recognized for their efforts in this year's program.
Reservations for the banquet can be made at the Butler County Conservation District Office or the Penn State Cooperative Extension Office located in the Sunnyview home.
Cost is $13. Reservations are due by Nov. 7. Call 724-284-5270 or 724-287-4761 for more information.
