Summit shocks Laurel
The Summit Academy football team is just one win away from its first trip to the WPIAL playoffs.
Earl Zarpeles threw touchdown passes of 83 and 34 yards to Kasil Butler and also ran for a 44-yard score as the Knights upset Laurel 28-14 Saturday afternoon.
Zarpeles finished 8-of-14 passing for 229 yards and also ran for 52 yards on just four carries.
Summit Academy (4-4 overall, 3-3 in the Tri-County North Conference) jumped out to 14-0 lead and built a 21-7 advantage midway through the third quarter following a 38-yard scoring run by Delaney Huggins.
The Knights rolled up 399 total yards against Laurel (5-3, 3-3).
Butler caught five passes for 171 yards for Summit.
If the Knights beat Riverside Friday night, they will earn the third and final playoff spot from the conference.
