Center Twp. earns perfect mark in Midget football regular season
Center Township finished the Butler Area Midget Football League season undefeated - but didn't do so easily.
Cole Baxter scored on a 7-yard run in overtime Saturday at Memorial Park, snapping a scoreless tie and lifting the Rams to a 6-0 victory over South Butler.
Both teams lost a few fumbles in the game.
East Butler 30, East Side 12 -
Chad Walker opened the scoring for East Butler with a 20-yard touchdown run in the first quarter. He added a 46-yard scoring dash in the second quarter.
The score reached 18-0 late in the first half when Elijah Christy connected with Walker for a 24-yard touchdown pass. Christy scored on a 37-yard run before East Side got on the board with a Vincent Schmidt 70-yard kickoff return.
Zach Harrison scored on a 63-yard run by Zach Harrison before Schmidt scored on a 17-yard run by Schmidt.
Penn Street 14, Meridian 6 -
Brian Jendesky got Penn Street on the board with a 13-yard scoring run in the first quarter. Corey Kuhrt added the conversion kick.
Cody Conklin extended the lead with a 9-yard touchdown run in the third quarter. Meridian got on the board in the final quarter as Chase Rodgers tossed a 41-yard touchdown pass to John Noel.
Saturday's Schedule -
Meridian (0-4-1) plays East Side (0-4-1) in a consolation game at 4:30 p.m.
No. 2 seed East Butler (4-1-0) plays No. 3 seed South Butler (3-2) in a semifinal playoff game at 6 p.m., followed by top-seeded Center Township (5-0) opposing No. 4 seed Penn Street (2-3-0) at 7:30 p.m.
All games will be played at Memorial Park.
