STEELERS STREAKS SNAPPED
Here is a list of Pittsburgh Steelers streaks that ended with their 23-20 loss Sunday to the New England Patriots:
- 16 consecutive regular-season victories. The only longer streaks in NFL history were 18 games by the Patriots, a streak that ended with a 34-20 loss in Pittsburgh on Oct. 31, 2004, and 17 games by the Chicago Bears, in 1933-34. It was the Steelers' first regular-season loss since Baltimore beat them 30-13 on Sept. 19, 2004, during Week 2.
- 11 consecutive regular-season home victories. Their last previous home loss during the season was 24-20 to Cincinnati on Nov. 30, 2003.
- 15 consecutive regular-season victories by quarterback Ben Roethlisberger, the longest streak to start a career in NFL history. Roethlisberger failed to become the first QB to win his first 16 starts, the equivalent of a full season. Counting postseason play, Roethlisberger is 16-2 as an NFL starter, with both losses to New England.
