YOUTH IN BRIEF

The Butler Eagle sports department is seeking reader input for its weekly youth sports page, which will consist of subject matter pertaining to all youth sports.

The Seneca Valley Junior Football Association North is raising funds to build a field house near the athletic field at Evans City Elementary School.This building would house equipment and uniforms. Estimated cost of the building is $15,000 to $20,000. Donations of $100 or more will be remembered on a plaque displayed at the completed field house.Call Michael DelDuca at 724-776-9031 for details.

Girls basketball tryouts for all interested Butler elementary school students in grades 4-6 will be held from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 4 and Oct. 6 in the Center Township Elementary School gym.Tryouts will include skills training and the girls traveling team.Call Bill Swarmer at 724-282-0817 or Greg Savisky at 724-282-8787 for details.

Butler will conduct a junior basketball league for boys from kindergarten to ninth grade.All boys will receive a basketball and reversible jersey. Space is limited. Contact 724-284-9767 for details.

The Titusville YMCA will hold its Chuck-n-Duck II Dodgeball Tournament Nov. 12.Age groups include grades 4-6, grades 7-9, grades 10-12 and adults age 19 and older.There are separate divisions for men and women. The East Brady Bulldogs cheerleaders are hosting a cheering competition at noon Oct. 2 at Sugarcreek Park on Route 268.East Brady, Karns City, Grove City, Prospect, Moniteau, Shannock Valley and Slippery Rock will be competing. Rain date is Oct. 9.The event is open to the public.
