SCOREBOARD

Monday, Sept. 12

Philadelphia (13-3) at Atlanta (11-5), 9 p.m. EDT (ABC). Will the T.O. Show be a melodrama, or will McNabb-to-Owens be too much for what looks like an improved Falcons defense. In their last meeting, the Eagles beat Atlanta for the NFC title.

STARS

Quarterbacks

Ben Roethlisberger, Steelers, went only 9-for-11, but for 218 yards and two TDs as he won his 14th straight regular-season start, 34-7 vs. Tennessee.

Running Backs

Clinton Portis rushed for 121 yards on 21 carries as the main offensive threat in Washington's 9-7 win against Chicago.

Rudi Johnson, Bengals, rushed for 126 yards on 26 carries and 1-yard TD run, leading a 27-13 win at Cleveland.

The Chiefs' Larry Johnson rushed for 110 yards and two touchdowns on nine carries and Priest Holmes added 85 yards and a touchdown in a 27-7 win over the Jets.

Carnell Williams, Buccaneers, rushed for 148 yards - including a 71-yard score - in a 24-13 victory at Minnesota.

Special Teams

Rookie Otis Amey returned a punt 75 yards for a touchdown the first time he touched the ball for the 49ers in a 28-25 win over St. Louis. Amey, a Bay Area native and undrafted free agent from Division I-AA Sacramento State, swerved through the heart of St. Louis' coverage team before coasting to the finish.

John Hall, Redskins, scored all of his team's points on three field goals in a 9-7 win against Chicago.

Willie Ponder returned a kickoff 95 yards to score for the Giants, and Chad Morton, signed a week and a half ago, returned a punt 52 yards for a touchdown in a 42-19 romp over Arizona.

Rian Lindell, Bills, hit a career-high five field goals, one short of the franchise record set by Steve Christie in 1996, in leading Buffalo past Houston 22-7.

Josh Scobee, Jaguars, finished with four field goals in a 26-14 victory over Seattle.

Defense

Buffalo forced five turnovers, including two interceptions by Troy Vincent, added five sacks and limited Houston to 107 yards in a 22-7 win. Houston had seven possessions of three plays or less.

Brian Kelly had two interceptions, the last one at his 6-yard line with 1:45 left that sealed a 24-13 victory for Tampa Bay at Minnesota.

Kansas City's improved defense came within 29 seconds of a shutout. Although weakened by first-half injuries to starters Patrick Surtain and Ryan Sims, the Chiefs held the mistake-prone Jets out of the end zone until the final half-minute, forced seven fumbles and recovered two and had three sacks.

San Francisco's defense sacked Marc Bulger seven times, three by veteran Bryant Young, playing end for the first time instead of tackle.

MILESTONES

Jeff Feagles, Giants, set an NFL record for career punts. The 18-year veteran's fourth punt of the game against Arizona, with 3:00 left in the third quarter, gave him 1,368 for his career, one more than Sean Landeta.
