Rerun second day Boxed Kathryn Mahaffy

Kathryn "Kay" Mahaffy, 83, of Mars, formerly of Ingomar, died Thursday morning at Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh.

She was born in Billings, Okla., on Oct. 9, 1921. She was the daughter of Stanley and Ruth Young Karl.

Mrs. Mahaffy was a homemaker, a member of the Mars United Presbyterian Church and had been an elder member of Camp Hill United Presbyterian Church.

She belonged to the Women's Club of Mars and was a member and on the board of directors of the Mars AARP.

At one time, she and her husband made their home in Warren, Pa.

Mrs. Mahaffy is survived by her husband, Wayne A. Mahaffy, whom she married May 3, 1941; two daughters, Mrs. Alan (Judith) Levenstein of Northridge, Calif., and Mrs. William (Cris) Graham of Mars; a son, David (Peg) C. Mahaffy of Kewadin, Mich.; a brother, William Karl of Brackenridge; a sister-in-law, Betty Karl; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Donald Karl.

Friends of Kathryn "Kay" Mahaffy, who died Thursday, Sept 1, 2005, are invited to attend a memorial service at 2 p.m. Sept. 10 at Mars United Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. John Rickloff officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Mars United Presbyterian Church, P.O. Box 805, Mars PA 16046.
