Butler sports star found with drugs

Littlejohn allegedly had crack cocaine

A former Butler High School star running back faces drug charges after city police Friday allegedly found him at a West End apartment with 10 rocks of suspected crack cocaine, police said.

Calvin Littlejohn, 19, of Center Avenue is charged with possession with intent to deliver and possession of a controlled substance.

Butler County probation officers found Littlejohn at Justin Thomas' McGeary Street apartment, where they had gone to conduct a house check as part of Thomas' parole.

Officers patted down both men and seized 10 "individually packaged rocks" of suspected crack and $200 wrapped in a bandana in Littlejohn's pants pocket, according to court documents.

Police said the suspected 5.6 grams of cocaine tested positive during a field test conducted by officers. The evidence will be further tested at the state police crime lab in Greensburg, Westmoreland County.

Littlejohn was charged Saturday and arraigned before District Judge Sue Haggerty. He was released that day from Butler County Prison after posting bail with a $5,000 bond.

A preliminary hearing before District Judge Pete Shaffer was not immediately scheduled.

Littlejohn, who does not have a listed telephone number, could not be reached for comment.

A standout Golden Tornado tailback while attending high school, Littlejohn had 239 carries for 1,322 yards as a senior.

Littlejohn also excelled in track and field, and in 2004 broke Butler's long jump and triple jump school records.

Police, meanwhile, also charged Thomas and Sheena Beachem, 20, who share the same apartment, after finding them with suspected heroin and prescription pills.

Both are accused of two counts each of possession of a controlled substance as well as possession of drug paraphernalia.

Thomas was placed in county prison in a probation violation while Beachem was charged by summons, police said.
