Matthew Celestin, son of Cody and Mary Lou Celestin of Butler, was recently selected for membership into the National Society of High School Scholars.He is a student at Butler High School.
<B>Thera Gaston</B> of Sarver was awarded the Alumni Recognition Award for graduating seniors recently at Mercyhurst College.While at the college, she served as a Mercyhurst ambassador and resident assistant. She was also a member of the Society of Competitive Intelligence Professionals and the International Association of Law Enforcement Intelligence Analysts.Jessica Stevenson Stewart, daughter of Sarah Stevenson of Slippery Rock, received a departmental citation recently from the University of California at Berkeley History of Art department.She is also the recipient of the Maybelle M. Toombs Award and has been recognized as a Haas Scholar for her thesis "Orientalist Exposures: Image Authority and Empire in Gertrude Bell's Photographic Archive."<B>Pamela Marlowe</B>, daughter of William and Margaret Marlowe of Harmony, has been selected for membership in the Lambda Sigma national honor society for sophomores at Westminster College.A broadcast communications major at Westminster, she is a graduate of Seneca Valley High School.<B>Abigail Oesterling</B>, daughter of Tim and Kathy Oesterling of Butler, has been named a United States National Award Winner in history and government.She is a student at Portersville Christian School.<B>Holly Geibel</B>, daughter of Ralph and Denise Geibel of Butler, has been named an All-American Collegiate Scholar.She attends the University of Louisville.
<B>Megan Sheridan</B> of Butler was one of three Rider University students to receive the President's Award for graduating seniors.A student in the Westminster Choir College at Rider University, she recently received a bachelor's degree in music education.While at the college, she was active in the Westminster Players, the Westminster Conservatory's Actors Company, the Westminster Singers and the Student Government Association. She also served as a resident assistant and was a member of the Alpha Lambda Delta honor society for freshman.A three-year Andrew J. Rider Scholar, she was also named to the dean's list and Who's Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges.Also active in community service, Sheridan has taught piano to schoolchildren, volunteered with the Youth Chorale and served as a summer camp counselor and in home-care giver for the elderly.Sheridan plans to attend the Teachers College of Columbia University to pursue a master's degree in music and music education.
