The Steel City Sparks (1-0-1) of the Women's Premier Soccer League play their first home game at 7 p.m. Saturday against the Rhode Island Rays art Pine-Richland Stadium.

The Sparks are coming off an 8-2 season in their first year in the WPSL and have a new head coach, Brenda Van Strahlen, the head women's soccer at St. Francis College.

Two Butler County players - Butler graduate Annie Lowry and Seneca Valley graduate Julie Muckle - play for the Sparks. Lowry is a forward and is fifth in the league in scoring with two goals and an assist for five points through two games.

Muckle is a defenseman. Lowry plays collegiate soccer at James Madison University while Muckle plays at UNC Charlotte.

The Sparks are 1-0-1 thus far this season.

Butler heavyweight boxer Brian Minto's fight with Jermell Barnes June 16 has been postponed until June 28, at the Butler Days Inn."There were some snags with the original date," promoter Michael Acri said. "I really can't get into it."Tickets for the Minto-Barnes fight will go on sale next weekend at the Days Inn. They are $60 for golden ringside, $40 for ringside and $20 for general admission.
