Ryanne Forcht, daughter of Donald and Veronica Forcht, was awarded the College Chemistry Award by the Society for Analytical Chemists of Pittsburgh.A senior chemistry major at Seton Hill University, a monetary award in her honor will be presented to Seton Hill University Library.At the university, Forcht is the president of the Lambda Honor Society, captain of the soccer team, vice president of the Chemistry Club and senator on the Student Government.
Maryann Bell, daughter of Eugene Bell of Brigham City, Utah, and Susan Bell of Zelienople, has been awarded a $7,000 Fraternal College Scholarship by the Modern Woodmen of America.She plans to attend Penn State University.
H. D. Sinopoli of Butler, a student in the doctorate program at Indiana (Pa.) University, has been chosen to participate in the Sino-American Principal Forum in China.As a part of the Fulbright Scholarship Program, Sinopoli will be among a group of eight IUP doctoral students traveling to China for the two-week program.There, they will work with administrators from the 21st Century Educational Development and Research Institute, University of Suzhou and the Department of Education in Fuzhou, and Fuzhou Normal University in China.The superintendent of the Keystone School District in Clarion County, he resides with his wife Jocelyn Howard Sinopoli.
Katharine Croll, daughter of Ken and Debbie Archer and Richard Croll, all of Butler, has been chosen to participate in the Carnegie Mellon Institute for Talented Elementary and Secondary Students.A fourth grade student at Center Township Elementary School, she will participate in the Crime Scene Investigations Program at Ramsey Elementary School in Monroeville.
<B>Shannon Reed</B>, a cadet in the Junior ROTC program at Seneca Valley High School, was presented a bronze medal, campaign bar and certificate for patriotism, leadership and academic performance by the Kushkushkee Trail chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution during the recent Seneca Valley Military Ball.DAR chapters present the awards annually to Junior ROTC program students based on recommendations from ROTC instructors and school administrators.This is the first year the award has been presented by the Kushkushkee Trail chapter, which is based in Southern Butler County and Northern Allegheny County.<B>Lori MacDonald</B>, daughter of A. James "Doc" and Barbara MacDonald of Zelienople, has been awarded the Barry M. Goldwater Scholarship at Youngstown State University.A biology major, she is a 2002 graduate of Seneca Valley High School.
