Carl 'Andy' Magan Jr.

Carl Andrew "Andy" Magan Jr., 72, of 216 E. Rockenstein Ave. died at 10:30 a.m. Sunday at his home after an illness.

Born in Templeton, Aug. 18, 1932, he was the son of Carl A. and Florence Boyd Magan Sr.

He was an American History teacher for the Butler School District for 32 years. He also taught in the Kittanning School District and at Ridgeway schools.

Mr. Magan was a graduate of Kittanning High School, where played football, and Indiana (Pa.) State Teachers College, where he also played football.

He was a member of the Oak Hill Christian Church, the American Society of Military Insignia Collectors and the American Genealogical Society. He was a ham radio operator with the call name of WA3EGK and an avid computer operator. He was a Korean War Army veteran.

Surviving are his wife, Donna Rivers Magan, to whom he was married for 28 years; a son, Douglas Lee Magan of Pottstown; two daughters, Cortney Magan of Butler and Mrs. Chester (Jackie) Seybert of Karns City; two sisters, Mrs. Joseph (Pinky) Reed of Templeton and Rose Smith of Kittanning; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. A number of nieces and nephews also survive.

MAGAN - Friends of Carl Andrew "Andy" Magan Jr., who died Sunday, Feb. 27, 2005, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday atMARTIN FUNERAL HOME, 429 Center Ave., Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with the Rev. Phillip Conyers, his church pastor, officiating. Burial will be at Hillview Cemetery, Kepples Corners.Memorial donations may be made to the VNA Hospice, 154 Hindman Road, Butler, PA 16001.
