Lynn H. McCandless, 73, of 119 Lower Saint George Road, Kennerdell, died at 8:53 a.m. Monday at UPMC Northwest in Seneca, Venango County.

Born Feb. 18, 1931, in Butler, he was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Lynn G. McCandless.

He was a graduate of Butler High School and had lived most of his life in the Butler area. For the past nine years, he lived in the Kennerdell area, where he belonged to the Rockland United Methodist Church.

During the Korean War, he served in Army Co. A, 761st Tank Battalion, Reserve Command, 3rd Armor Division, 3rd Platoon.

Mr. McCandless had been a cost and design engineer at Du-Co Ceramics for more than 30 years. He enjoyed woodworking and the outdoors.

His wife, Sarah Jane Roberts McCandless, whom he married Sept. 26, 1964, died Oct. 4, 2004.

Surviving are two sons and their wives, William and Cristy McCandless of Kennerdell and Jack and Julie McCandless of Butler; and eight grandchildren, Austin McCandless of Kennerdell and Lynaia, Megan, Christian, Marissa, Nathan, Caleb and Milena McCandless, all of Butler.

McCANDLESS - Friends of Lynn H. McCandless, who died Mondayfrom 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at Rockland United Methodist Church, 4357 Kennerdell Road, Kennerdell. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the church with the Rev. Shawn Goodwin officiating. Burial will be at Rockland Cemetery.HUTCHINSON FUNERAL HOME, Oil City, is in charge of arrangements.
