Robert Dennis Grindel, 54, of Libertyville, Ill., died Tuesday in Libertyville.

He was born June 6, 1950, in Butler and had lived in Libertyville for 17 years.

A graduate of Penn State University, he was the assistant treasurer at Index Corp. of Northbrook, Ill.

Mr. Grindel was a member of St. Joseph Parish of Libertyville. He was an avid sports fan and coached baseball on several levels with the Libertyville Little League, Boys Club and American Legion teams.

He is survived by his wife, Christine; three sons, Benjamin of Arizona and Jason and Jonathan, both of Libertyville; and two sisters, Linda (Robert) Herman and Patricia (Tom) Rajchel, both of Butler.

Funeral services will be at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at the funeral chapel to St. Joseph Church, 121 E. Maple, Libertyville, where a Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial will be at Ascension Cemetery.Memorial donations may be made to Libertyville High School Baseball.
