Ariane Baier, daughter of Karen Baier of Penn Township, a senior at Knoch High School, was named Ms. Future Business Leader for Region 13 at the Future Business Leaders of America competition held Jan. 6 at Butler County Community College.As the winner of the competition, which included contestants from 15 area schools, she will advance to the state competition in April at Seven Springs.The president of the Knoch High School chapter of FBLA, Baier serves as a state officer for Youth and Government and as vice president of the Citizens National Bank Junior Bank Board.She is a co-operative education student working on an internship at the Butler County Courthouse and works at Trader Horn evenings and weekends.She is an active member of the Butler County Democratic Party and has volunteered on the political campaigns of Fred Vero in his run for state representative for the 11th district and Sen. John Kerry's presidential race in 2004. She is also a member of Early Birds Toastmaster Club.
<B>Adam Dawson</B>, son of Walter and Linda Dawson of Butler, has been chosen to participate in the Regimental Band at the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy in Kings Point, N.Y.A graduate of Knoch High School, he plays the trumpet in the ensemble.Dawson was nominated to attend the academy by Phil English.
