Freshman forward Kim Nowakowski scored 16 of her season-high 18 points in the first half to lift the California (Pa.) women's basketball team to a 56-54 victory over Freed Hardeman in the championship game of the Goombay Shootout in Nassau, the Bahamas, Monday.

Nowakowski, who also equaled her season high with 11 rebounds, was named Shootout MVP.

On Sunday, the Butler graduate, had nine points and nine rebounds in 22 minutes of action for in a 60-48 victory over Shaw (7-1).

The No. 10 ranked Vulcans (9-2) won their seventh consecutive game.
