Sarah Kosar, a junior at Butler Senior High School, recently played the role of Audrey in the Pittsburgh CLO Academy presentation of "Little Shop of Horrors."Kosar has also performed with the Butler Summer Dramatics in "Annie" and "Oklahoma" and was featured as a dancer in Butler Musical Theatre Guild's "The King and I."Kosar attended a six-week pre-college musical theater program last summer at Carnegie-Mellon University.She is the daughter of John and Phyllis Kosar of Butler.
The following students were recognized recently for high academic achievement at the Triangle Tech Institute in Pittsburgh:<B> Jake Neiman </B> of Butler and <B> Dave Companion </B> and <B> Heath Hrabczuk</B>, both of Kittanning.
<B>Bryn Hollen</B>, a senior at Mars High School, will represent Butler County in the Outstanding Young Woman Program finals the week of Nov. 22 in Kutztown.The statewide scholarship program rewards young women for excelling at school and in their communities.Hollen is among 14 young women vying for the title of Pennsylvania Outstanding Young Woman 2005.
<B> Lydia Caparosa</B> and <B> James Franek</B>, students at Butler Intermediate High School, were awarded Nov. 8 during the eighth annual Model United Nations Simulation at the University of Pittsburgh.As part of the annual event, students were evaluated on their ability to realistically present the position of a designated country during mock sessions of the United Nations, Caribbean Community and North Atlantic Treaty Organization.
<B> Andrea Newcomer </B> of Butler was inducted into the Alpha Lambda Honor Society at Baldwin-Wallace College.Alpha Lambda is a freshman scholastic honor society for students with a grade-point average of 3.5 or higher during their freshman year.
<B> Brian Thomas Cherry </B>of Freeport, a senior at Grove City College, played King Sextimus the Silent in the school's recent production of "Once Upon a Mattress."Cherry is the son of Thomas and Cheryl Cherry of Freeport.
