Cadet Jay Berger, son of Jerry Berger of Cabot and Cathy Reese of Butler, has earned the Superintendent's Award for Excellence at the U.S. Military Academy.

A 2003 graduate of Knoch High School, Berger is studying aeronautical engineering.

Megan Sheridan, a member of the Westminster Symphonic Choir at Rider University in Princeton, N.J., will perform Brahm's "A German Requiem" with the choir and the Dresden Philharmonic Monday at the Lincoln Center in New York City.The choir will also perform with the New Jersey Symphony Orchestra later in the monthSheridan is the daughter of Thomas and Linda Sheridan of Butler.

Nataly Zúñiga of Cuenca, Ecuador, a student ambassador with the ProAmerican Educational and Cultural Exchange, will be spending the 2004-05 academic year attending the Slippery High School.She will reside with Jerry and Kathy Jesteadt of Prospect.

Roberto Ferraresiof Caracas, Venezuela, a student ambassador with the ProAmerican Educational and Cultural Exchange, will be spending the 2004-05 academic year attending the Butler High School.He will reside with Jim and Joy Mulkern of Evans City.

Allegheny Clarion Valley High School students Trevor Miller andCassandra Morrison have been nominated for the Wendy's High School Heisman Award for scholar-athletes.Miller is a member of the football, wrestling, baseball and track teams as well as the band, chorus and men's ensemble. He is a summer youth volunteer and assists with the youth wrestling program and tournament.Morrison is the vice-president of the student council and a member of the National Honor Society. She has participated on the volleyball, basketball and track teams.

Cherie Buday, daughter of Karl and Suzanne Buday of Freeport, is attending Penn State University where she is studying Aerospace Engineering.A 2004 graduate of Freeport High School, she has received an ROTC Air Force Scholarship, a Weiss Breakthrough Scholarship, a Best Buy Scholarship, a Butler Road Race Scholarship and a Freeport Band Booster Scholarship.At the university, she is a member of the Women in Enginering Program, the Air Force Chorus, intramural touch football and intramural volleyball.

Karli Buday, daughter of Karl and Suzanne Buday of Freeport, is attending Saint Vincent College where she is studying environmental science.A 2004 graduate of Freeport High School, she received a Saint Vincent Leadership Scholarship, an Academic Scholarship and an Electro-Glass Scholarship.At the college, she is a lifeguard and a member of the Bearcat Swim Team.

Gregory Boros was recently inducted into the National Society of Collegiate Scholars at Penn State University.A sophomore studying communications, he is the son of Smitty and Becky Boros of Zelienople.

Lacey Johnson of Butler recently received the class of 1985 Scholarship at Elizabethtown College.
