Villanueva, Ishler

Elsa Marie Villanueva of San Jose, Calif., and Joel Ishler of East Palo Alto, Calif., were united in marriage at 4 p.m. Aug. 8 in a seaside ceremony in Monterey, Calif. The Rev. Roger Valci officiated. A reception followed at the Seaside Resort in Monterey.

The bride is the daughter of Nester and Ester Villanueva of San Jose. Parents of the bridegroom are Jim and Eilene Ishler of Butler.

The matron of honor was Lucy Maselli of Freemont, Calif. Bridesmaids included Ekua Blankson, Ethel Realin, Carmen Adriaanse, Desiree Sumera, Carolyn Bang, Gloria Otosi and Tippi Rivera, all of California; Houtef Ishler of North Africa; and Jennifer Toth, the groom's sister, of Altoona. The flower girls were Lydia Ishler and Brianna Realin, both of California.

Performing the duties of best man was Tim Toth of Altoona. Groomsmen included Jim Ishler of North Africa; Charlie Fowler of Maryland; and Alton Phillips, Lou Maselli, Lonnie Ellis, Troy Smith, Joel Wolski, Matt Martin and Bryce Stephens, all of California. The ring bearer was Andrew Toth of Altoona.

The bride studied electronics and communications engineering at St. Louis University in Baguio City, Philippines. She works as a database programmer for Snap-on Diagnostics.

The groom has a degree in commercial art from Millersville University. He works as an associate of Berean Christian Bookstores.

After a honeymoon cruise and trip to Mendocino, Calif., the couple is residing in San Jose.
