Evan Miranda,

son of Elio and Marlene Miranda of Butler, was recently accepted into the People to People World Leadership Forum.

A student in the seventh grade at Butler Junior High School, he will travel to Washington, D.C. for one week in November to study leadership, visit national landmarks and earn high school credits.

Midshipman Adam Dawson,

son of Walter and Linda Dawson of Butler, was recently selected to serve as the band company training officer at the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy.

A graduate of Knoch High School, he is studying marine engineering systems at the academy.

Emily Evans,

daughter of Clinton and Louise Evans of Butler, was recently selected as a 2005 Andrew Carnegie Society Scholar.

A senior at Carnegie Mellon University, she is an ethics, history and public policy major.

Evans is a 2001 graduate of Butler High School.
