of Prospect was recently honored as an Academic Team winner at the Pennsylvania Commission for Community Colleges Annual Meeting in Harrisburg.

Hogg, a secondary education-math major at Butler County Community College received an academic passport, which provides two years of free tuition to any state system university.

While at BC3, Hogg has served as the executive vice president of Phi Theta Kappa and has worked at the Harvest Moon/Monster Bash and Dr. Seuss Day campus events.

She has also volunteered for Caring Angels, Adopt a Child for Christmas, Relay for Life and the Light the Night Walk.

Hogg plans to pursue a career as a college professor.

of Slippery Rock, a neuroscience major at Lafayette College, has been chosen to pursue a scientific research project this summer exploring the courtship and mating behavior of zebra finches.Coyer, who will work with neuroscience professor Wendy Hill, recently completed her junior year at the college.

son of Bob and the Rev. Kathy Mikesell of Butler, was recently awarded a $500 scholarship for academic achievement in his first semester and a $2,000 scholarship for academic achievement in his first year at Penn State University at McKeesport.An information sciences and technology major, he is a 2003 graduate of Butler High School.

daughter of Rich and Kerry McKinnis of West Sunbury, was recently awarded a $1,000 scholarship from Citizen National Bank.A recent graduate of Moniteau High School, she plans to attend Allegheny College and study biology/pre-med.

son of David and Amy Walters of Slippery Rock, will receive an award for outstanding achievement on an above grade-level test administered by the C-MITES program at Carnegie Mellon University.A fifth grader at Slippery Rock Elementary School, Walters will be presented with the award for exceptional performance in reading on Sept. 12.

, son of Keith Ditmore of Rochester and Susan Ditmore of Callery, was recently presented the George C. Marshall ROTC Award at the Virginia Military Academy.After graduating from the University of Tampa, Ditmore will be commissioned as a second lieutenant in the army.Ditmore is a 2000 graduate of Seneca Valley High School.
