RELIGIOUS ROUNDUP

BUTLER CHURCH OF THE NAZARENE

A missions "Faith Promise Dinner" will be held at 5:30 p.m. Sunday at the Butler Church of the Nazarene, 4410 Oakdale Road and Route 68. The guest speaker will be the Rev. Jon Mowry, an ordained elder in the Church of the Nazarene.

BRUSH CREEK CHRISTAIN (DESCIPLES OF CHRIST)

Brush Creek Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), 1510 Haine School Road, Cranberry Township will host a Sunday school Game Boy Competition for children at 9:15 a.m. Sunday with the game of choice being Mario. The winner will receive $5 in Disciple dollars.

CENTER U.M.

A Ladies Tea will be held at 1 p.m. April 24 at Center United Methodist Church, 1575 Donnellville Road, Fawn Township. For reservations, call 724-226-2300.

CHRIST COMMUNITY U.M.

The Chancel Choir of Christ Community United Methodist Church, 205 N. Duffy Road, will provide a special musical selection at the Sunday worship service at the Butler VA Medical Center, New Castle Road.

Bridge Sunday will be observed at the 11 a.m. Sunday. Music will be presented by the Little Lambs, His Kids, and Joyful Voices. The Youth Chimes and Orchestra will offer selections.

Large tubes of toothpaste will be collected on Saturday and Sunday for the health kits.

There will be a meeting for all adults and youth attending Creation at 9:45 a.m. Sunday.

The Youth Group will be hold a silent auction and luncheon at noon Sunday. The auction will feature furniture and appliances and services such as baby-sitting, yard work and tutoring.

CHRIST'S OUTREACH

The Youth of Christ's Outreach Church, 120 Walker Ave, will be attend "Acquire the Fire 2004" from April 30 to May 1 in Pittsburgh. For information, see Don or Tammy Hixon.

Alex Mysliwiec, a handbell ringer, will return to the church at 10:30 a.m. Sunday.

COVENANT PRESBY

Daryl Kemerer will be the guest organist at the 11 a.m. Sunday service at Covenant Presbyterian Church, 230 E. Jefferson St.

Ron Tappy, professor of Bible and Archaeology at Pittsburgh Theological Seminary and director of the James Kelso Bible Lands Museum, will lead the Seekers Class, at 9:30 a.m. Sunday in the Assembly Room.

The food cupboard is requesting donations of peanut butter and jelly. Baskets are in the front entrance hallway.

FAITH FELLOWSHIP

"Nehemiah - Restoring our Spiritual Covering" by the Rev. Richard Jenks and "Wild At Heart" video series by the Rev. Jeff Smith for men will be new ministry school classes offered at 6 p.m. Sunday at Faith Fellowship Alliance Church, 200 Faithway-Fared Drive.

FIRST BAPTIST

Leon and Donna Duell, involved with church planting and evangelism in Perm, Russia, will share their ministry at the 10:55 a.m. and 6 p.m. Sunday services at First Baptist Church, 221 W. New Castle St.

Pat Wimer of Charlotte, N.C., who served with her husband as a missionary in the Central Africa Republic and Hawaii, will speak at 7 p.m. Wednesday.

Youth group members will participate in a paintball event from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at Slippery Rock Baptist Camp, 130 Elliott Lane, Slippery Rock.

FIRST ENGLISH LUTHERAN

First English Lutheran Church, 241 N. Main St. will hold a confirmation breakfast at 10 a.m. Saturday.

The Kidz Choir will perform at the 11 a.m. contemporary service.

FIRST PRESBY

A new adult Sunday school class will begin at First Presbyterian Church of Bakerstown, Route 8 at Heckert Road, at 10:45 a.m. Sunday. The class, "Homes of Honor," will be taught by Gary Klaas and is aimed at couples contemplating marriage and those already married.

GLADE RUN U.P.

GRACE LUTHERAN

Grace Lutheran Church, 220-226 New Castle St., will hold a Hard Rock Christian Concert with John Baughman at 6 p.m. Friday in the social hall.

HILL U.P.

The Kingdom Ringer's handbell choir will be featured at the 10:30 a.m. Sunday service of Hill United Presbyterian Church, 501 Second St.

Youth will leave at 5 p.m. Friday for a mission project at Sojourner House in Pittsburgh. The youth Sunday school class will meet at 9:15 a.m. Sunday to prepare bag lunches for the community. Movie Night will be at 6:30 p.m. Sunday.

Signups for the church directory continue Saturdays and Sundays before and after worship through April. Pictures are scheduled for May 5-7.

A new series of adult Sunday school classes will begin Sunday at 9:15 a.m. and continue through May 26. Contact John Porter for information on the three courses. Childcare is provided for those 3 and younger.

MERIDIAN U.P.

The youth in grades 1-12 of Meridian United Presbyterian Church, 4150 Highland Ave., will go ice skating from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. Sunday. Participants should meet at the church at 1 p.m.

MOUNT CHESTNUT PRESBY

There will be no Thursday night choir or bell rehearsal tonight at Mount Chestnut Presbyterian Church, 727 Old West 422. The choir schedule will resume next week.

Participants in One Great Hour of Sharing should return offering envelopes as soon as possible.

MUDDY CREEK U.P.

Muddy Creek United Presbyterian Church, 341 Muddy Creek Drive, will kick off the Spring Kidzone program from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Friday. Activities include food, crafts, and Bible lessons for children of all ages.

A dinner and dedication of the new church annex is set for 4 p.m. Sunday. Attendees should bring a tureen and table service.

NEW LIFE CHRISTIAN MINISTRIES

Youth in grades six through 12, who have completed the True Joy series will receive commitment card as part of the 10 a.m. Sunday service at New Life Christian Ministries, Knoch School Auditorium, 345 Knoch Road, Saxonburg.

NORTH MAIN ST. CHURCH OF GOD

Sign-up sheets for "Discovery Series," which will continue on June 6, are available at both welcome centers at North Main Street Church of God, 1201 North Main St. Ext. "Class 101 - Discovering Membership," will be taught by the Rev. David Brown and "Class 201 - Discovering Maturity," will be taught by the Rev. Debra Cypher. Both classes will be held from 1 to 5 p.m., and pre-registration is necessary. A complimentary meal will be provided.

OLD UNION PRESBY

A congregational meeting of Old Union Presbyterian Church, 200 Union Church Road, Mars, will be held May 2 to vote on the building proposal.

The soup supper will be held Saturday.

Information on summer camps is available in the back of the church.

Tickets will be available soon for this year's musical comedy, "The In-Laws Go Camping," which will be presented May 14-16.

ST. PETER'S EPISCOPAL

Adult education at St. Peter's Episcopal Church, 218 E. Jefferson St. will begin a new series on ethical issues. Classes will meet from 9:15 to 10:15 a.m. Sundays in the Guild Room.

The children will flower the cross and provide music at the 10:30 a.m. Sunday service. There also will be a special United Thank Offering.

ST. RICHARD R.C.

The youth group of St. Richard Roman Catholic Church, 3841 Dickey Road, Gibsonia, will hold a car wash from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Advance Auto Parts on Route 8.

The regular Faith Formation schedule will resume Sunday.

There will be a family retreat for children making their First Communion on Sunday, beginning with the noon Mass.

The junior and senior high youth groups will visit Timpani Nursing Home from 6 to 7 p.m. Monday.

SLIPPERY ROCK U.M.

Kings Daughters will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday in the student room at Slippery Rock United Methodist, Franklin and Maple streets.

Saturday morning will feature a men's breakfast at 8 a.m. in the Student Room followed by the landscaping interest group at 10 a.m.

The Rev. Jason Wakefield will be a guest speaker at Sunday worship.

The youth will sponsor a soup and sandwich fund-raising event after Sunday services.

SPRINGDALE LUTHERAN CHURCH

The Rev. Ralph Minton will lead the 11 a.m. Sunday service at Springdale Lutheran Church, 1061 Mahood Road, West Sunbury.

TRINITY PRESBY

Family Focus Afternoon with 3-2-1 Penquins will meet at 3 p.m. Sunday at Trinity Presbyterian Church, 107 Staley Ave. A special Veggie Tale film "An Easter Carol" will be viewed.

Desserts for Meals on Wheels are due on Sunday and should be wrapped for freezing.

WEST SUNBURY U.P.

The West Sunbury United Presbyterian Church, 215 East Church St., West Sunbury, is celebrating the 50th anniversary of its present church building. In preparation for a special service September 26, the anniversary committee is collecting addresses of former members and also memorabilia.
