Butler girls volleyball sweeps North Hills

Taylor Welter's 18 kills and eight digs sparked Butler to a 3-0 girls volleyball sweep of host North Hills Thursday night.

Butler topped the Indians by scores of 25-16, 25-17 and 25-18.

Maisy Gibson contributed eight kills and eight digs to the victory. Cassidy Safran had 13 assists and 12 digs for Butler, which improved to 2-1 in section play.

Burrell 3, Knoch 0 — Nicole Critchlow had 21 digs and three aces and Brynnae Coe 14 assists for the Knights (0-3, 0-4), who fell by scores of 25-22, 25-20 and 25-14.

A-C Valley 3, Forest Area 0 — The Falcons overwhelmed the host Fires by scores of 25-5, 25-4 and 25-5.

Meah Ielase tallied seven kills and seven aces, Paige Klingler four kills and seven aces and Jenna Stefanacci 16 service points.

Mackenzie Parks chipped in seven assists for the Falcons (4-0), who visit Grove City Wednesday.

Mars 3, Montour 0 — Lauren Atwell turned in seven kills and three blocks as Mars blanked Montour.

Ava Black contributed with four kills and six blocks and Ava Donnelly with 20 assists. Anna Pietrusinski notched 16 digs.

Kellan Stoughton-Drogowski carded a 92.Grove City placed first (343) and also won the region championship. Toby Matson led the Eagles Thursday with a 74.

Ayla Ward and Abby Weis both scored twice in Seneca Valley's dominating 6-0 win against visiting North Hills.Kendall Walton and Bayden Valentovish also scored for the Raiders (1-1, 4-1-1).North Catholic 3, Beaver 1 — Jayden Sharpless, Lauren MacDonald and Makenzie DeBlassio each scored a goal for the Trojanettes (4-0).MacDonald added two assists and Sharpless one.Rylee Kumer recorded four saves.
