Ackerman, Wozniak key SR track wins

Slippery Rock's Tommy Tedesco races down the final stretch of the boys 400 against Lakeview's Hunter Miller on Thursday. Tedesco won the event in a photo finish as the Rockets earned the sweep.

Maryann Ackerman was a three-event winner for the girls and Seaton Wozniak won a pair of events for the boys as the Slippery Rock track and field team swept Lakeview with the boys winning 95-55 and the girls 95-49.

Ackerman won the shot put, discus and javelin.

Anna Kadlubek and Katie Book were also multiple individual event winners for the Rocket girls.

Wozniak won the shot and the discus for the Slippery Rock boys.

Cade Wheeler had 14 kills and Kaleb Wojnar had 18 assists as Butler downed Fox Chapel 25-17, 23-25, 25-12, 25-21.Carson Stein pitched in 15 digs and Noah Wolford four blocks for the Golden Tornado (4-4), who host Seneca Valley Tuesday.

Morgan Wise scored both Freeport goals in a 17-2 setback to Fox Chapel.
