KC volleyball wins

Morgan Smith tallied seven kills and six aces as Karns City's volleyball team upended Clarion-Limestone, 3-1 Monday night.

Rosalie Carden added five kills and 12 assists in the win, which came by scores of 25-20, 25-20, 22-25 and 25-12.

Also contributing for the Gremlins were Amber Maurer with four kills and 11 digs, Ashley Fox with four aces, four kills and 17 digs and Emma Johns with five kills and nine assists.

Freeport 3, Butler 2 — The Golden Tornado fell to 2-8 as the Yellowjackets scored a 25-27, 25-21, 26-28, 25-19, 15-12 victory.Taylor Welter paced Butler with 27 kills and 12 digs. Justine Forbes contributed 12 kills and four blocks, Sophia Lucas 12 kills, 21 digs and three aces, Megan Penrod 39 digs.Butler plays at Pine-Richland Tuesday.

Seneca Valley 3, Knoch 0 — The Raiders earned this non-section win by scores of 25-10, 25-23 and 25-13.The Knights (4-8) received eight service points and 11 digs from Mykenzie Werner. Quinn Hughes added 14 digs and five blocks.SV stats were not available.

Karns City 2, Knoch 1 — McKenna Martin scored both goals for the Gremlins, including the game-winner in the second overtime. Emma Dailey and Ally Fennell assisted on the tallies.Stats for Knoch were not available.

Slippery Rock sophomore Jacob Wolak shot an 83 in the 18-hole PIAA Class 2A golf championship at Heritage Hills Golf Resort in York, PA.Wolak tied for 30th out of 48 golfers.The tournament was shortened from 36 holes to 18 due to COVID-19.
