8:50 p.m. Thursday — Daniel Macias Macias, 26, of Mars was arrested for driving under the influence after a rear-end crash on Route 228 at Myoma Road. The other driver told police that the defendant had fled the scene after the wreck.

Police later found Macias and his car at or near his home in Mars. He was taken to UPMC Passavant in Cranberry Township for a blood test, according to court documents, which showed his blood-alcohol level was 0.164 percent, or more than twice the state’s 0.08 percent legal limit.

He was arraigned on charges of DUI, failing to stop and given information or render aid after an accident, following too closely to another vehicle, driving too fast for conditions and careless driving. He was released on $3,000 unsecured bail following arraignment.

1:54 a.m. Thursday — Police arrested a Venango County man after they say he choked one man and pointed a pistol at another man during a fight at a friend’s house on the 400 block of West Water Street. No serious injuries were reported.

Kyle D. Vidovich, 21, of Franklin was arraigned on charges of terroristic threats, reckless endangerment, simple assault, harassment and disorderly conduct. He was placed in the Butler County Prison on $5,000 bond following arraignment.

Police said they seized a 9 mm pistol that was in center console of a vehicle during the investigation.

10:19 a.m. Friday — A 17-year-old boy was arrested after he allegedly broke several items and pulled out a knife during a domestic dispute with his stepfather at a home on the 400 block of Route 68 in Oakland Township. The boy, who is facing unspecified charges in the incident, later was turned over to juvenile probation authorities.
