Butler native leading PPT orchestra for 'Little Shop' musical

Catie Brown

Butler native Catie Brown will be playing keyboard and conducting the orchestra for the monthlong run of “Little Shop of Horrors” at Pittsburgh Public Theater.

She graduated from Butler High School in 2005.

In the position with the PPT musical, she is working with Grammy Award-winning music director John McDaniel.

The musical comedy, with book and lyrics by Howard Ashman and music by Alan Menken, opens Thursday at the O’Reilly Theater, 621 Penn Ave.

In “Little Shop of Horrors,” nerdy flower shop clerk Seymour brings in an odd horticultural find. He names it after his co-worker, Audrey. He quickly discovers, however, that this plant isn’t like any other.

Pittsburgh Public Theater presents the show through Feb. 23.

Curtain is at 7 p.m. Tuesdays, at 8 p.m. Wednesdays through Saturdays (except Feb. 5), 2 p.m. Saturdays (except Jan. 25 and Feb. 1) plus 2 p.m. Feb. 20, and 2 and 7 p.m. Sundays (except Feb. 23 when the final performance is at 2 p.m.).

For tickets, call the O’Reilly box office at 412-316-1600 or visit ppt.org.
