The oil painting “Blue Light” by Marian Sallade is part of the Butler Art Center's annual Spring Show. It continues through May 11.

The Butler Art Center is hosting its Spring Show through May 11.

A reception for the exhibit will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the center at 344 S. Main St.

More than 25 artists have submitted about 130 pieces for the annual show, according to gallery manager Stephen Haley.

Bold landscapes abound in this exhibit.

“Everybody seemed to make everything in a spirit of spring. Courtesy of the long cold winter, the works submitted are exploding with color. It seems many people were waiting for light,” Haley said.

“Expectations were exceeded again. Seems to be a theme. One that I will happily take every show,” he said. Two professional judges from the Hoyt Center for the Arts in New Castle will evaluate the artwork.Cash prizes will be awarded to the winners in each of the show categories and a best in show. The Art Center is open regularly 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays and noon to 4 p.m. Saturdays.Admission is free.
