Monday — Police reported that they charged a boy in connection with a disturbance on a school bus last month on Meridian Road.

The boy, who police did not identify, is accused of assaulting the driver, a monitor and another student on a Valley Lines bus around 5:30 p.m. Dec. 18. The bus was transporting students from St. Stephen’s Academy in Zelienople.

The suspect also made “threatening statements toward everyone on the bus,” according to a police report.

He is charged in Butler County juvenile court with three counts of simple assault, terroristic threats, disorderly conduct and harassment.

4:28 a.m. Sunday — Zachary A. Rock, 27, of Butler is suspected of driving under the influence after he crashed his car in Summit Township.

Police said Rock traveled off East Butler Road just east of Rustic Ridge Lane and overturned. He was wearing a seat belt and was not injured.

9:54 p.m. Saturday — A utility pole was sheared off in a hit-and-run crash on Herman Road just east of Schnur Road in Summit Township.

The driver, Stephen P. Bogan, 26, of Butler lost control of his sport utility vehicle and hit the pole before traveling down an embankment and crashing through several small trees. He was wearing a seat belt and was not injured.

Police cited Bogan for hit and run, failing to immediately notify police of an accident, driving without insurance, driving at an unsafe speed, driving on the wrong side of the road, disregarding traffic lanes and careless driving.

2:59 a.m. Saturday — A Butler man received eight traffic tickets following a hit-and-run wreck in Parker Township.

Police said the driver, Eric D. Berry, 22, lost control of his pickup truck on School Street at Hook City Road and struck a utility pole. He fled, according to a police report, after speaking to a volunteer firefighter at the scene.

Berry was cited for hit and run, failing to stop and give information or render aid after an accident, fleeing a police investigation, abandoning a vehicle on a road, driving on the wrong side of the road, disregarding traffic lanes, driving at an unsafe speed and careless driving.

2:04 a.m. Saturday — Ryan L. Walters, 29, of Butler was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence on New Castle Road in Butler Township. Charges are pending.

Saturday — An unknown vandal broke the driver’s side window of an 80-year-old man’s pickup truck at a home in the 300 block of Mitchell Hill Road in Summit Township. The incident happened between 4 p.m. Friday and 10:50 a.m. Saturday.

Jan. 2 — An unknown thief stole a 69-year-old Slippery Rock woman’s box truck from the 900 block of New Castle Road in Worth Township. The theft happened between 4 p.m. Dec. 31 and 7 a.m. Jan. 2. The truck is a 1999 GMC 4500 with the Pennsylvania license plate YRC2839.
