Reception set Friday for selective show

“South 18th,” an oil painting by Ron Sokolowski, is one of more than 100 works being shown in an invitational at the Butler Art Center.

The Invitational Art Show at the Butler Art Center will have a reception Friday.

The reception will run from 7 to 9 p.m., with light refreshments. Cash prizes will be awarded during the reception. Admission is free.

More than 100 hand-picked local artists were invited to showcase not only their skills and techniques but also their own creativity and uniqueness.

Titles in the show include “Mendocino,” “Day Dreamer,” “Time Away,” “Roman Arena” and “In Daddy’s Arms.”

The show is being judged by Butler native Sue Baechtel, who recently showed an impressive 50 years of artwork at the Art Center.

The show will continue through Nov. 10.

Regular gallery hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays and noon to 4 p.m. Saturdays.

The Butler Art Center is a nonprofit located at 344 S. Main St.
