John Wayne's son to appear at fall bash

Patrick Wayne, John Wayne's son, who starred as Sinbad in Ray Harryhausen's “Sinbad and the Eye of the Tiger,” will also be appearing at the Monster Bash next weekend.

Monster Bash, the international classic monster movie conference and film festival, returns for an October show.

The three-day event will be Oct. 19 to 21 at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Pittsburgh-Cranberry, 910 Sheraton Drive, Marshall Township, Allegheny County.

Monster Bash features screenings of classic films and television shows, question-and-answer sessions with celebrities, music, and monster movie memorabilia.

Special guests will include Patrick Wayne, son of the late John Wayne and an actor in his own right, and Linda Miller, who starred in “King Kong Escapes!”

“We love bringing Hollywood screen actors to Western Pennsylvania,” said program director Ron Adams.

Wayne starred as Sinbad in Ray Harryhausen's “Sinbad and the Eye of the Tiger.” He also appeared in movies “The People That Time Forgot,” “Beyond Atlantis,” “McClintock,” “The Searchers,” “The Quiet Man,” “Mister Roberts,” “The Alamo,” “Shenandoah” and “Donovan's Reef.”

His other credits include TV's “They Came from Outer Space,” “Alfred Hitchcock Presents,” “Young Guns,” “Murder She Wrote,” “Have Gun Will Travel,” “Fantasy Island,” “Charlie's Angels,” “McCloud” and “Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea.”

He will answer questions about his career and share stories about his famous father.

Miller's credits also include “The Green Slime” from 1968 and she also had an appearance in the classic TV show “My Three Sons.”

An outdoor, drive-in style screening of “The Green Slime” will be held the night of Oct. 20, weather permitting.

Other celebrities scheduled to appear include Carl Craig, who as an 11-year-old became an instant star in Japan and the U.S. when he co-starred in “Destroy All Planets” in 1968; Charlotte Austin, who starred in “Gorilla At Large” with Raymond Burr and Anne Bancroft and worked with Cary Grant, Marlon Brando and Marilyn Monroe; Gregory Moffet, who was the child star of “Robot Monster”; and John Russo, co-writer of the original “Night of the Living Dead.”

Hours are 9 a.m. to 3 a.m. Oct. 19, 8 a.m. to 2 a.m. Oct. 20, and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Oct. 21. Admission is charged.For more information, visit www.creepyclassics.com or call 724-238-4317.
