SR's Pilosi runs, passes Rockets to blowout win

Conneaut had no answer for Vito Pilosi Friday night.

Slippery Rock's junior quarterback accounted for five touchdowns — the shortest one coming from 33 yards out — as the Rockets built a 28-0 halftime lead and went on to defeat the host Eagles, 42-20.

The Rockets marched 72 yards on the game's opening drive, with Pilosi scoring on a 40-yard run.

By the time the half was over, he had connected with Kaleb Kamerer on a 50-yard scoring strike and ran for another score from 33 yards.

David Duffalo's 39-yard touchdown run helped Slippery Rock (5-2, 1-2) go up by four scores at the break.

Intermission did not slow down the Rockets. On the first play of the second half, Nathan Hyatt hauled in a 78-yard touchdown pass from Pilosi.

The signal caller later scored the Rockets' final touchdown on a 47-yard run.

Slippery Rock hosts Hickory next Friday.

North Catholic 27, Elizabeth Forward 0 — The Trojans' defense shut down Elizabeth Forward senior quarterback Zach Benedek, limiting him to just 107 passing yards and intercepting him twice as the Warriors suffered their first loss of the season.

North Catholic took amodest 6-0 lead into halftime thanks to Zack Rocco's 5-yard touchdown run.

The senior quarterback then hit his stride in the passing game, throwing a pair of 20-yard scoring tosses to Tyree Brown in the second half.

Rocco capped the scoring with a 57-yard touchdown run.

The result creates a three-way tie for first place in the Big East Conference between Derry, North Catholic (6-1, 4-1) and Elizabeth Forward.

Brockway 31, Moniteau 12 — Chance Nagy rushed for 180 yards and a touchdown and the Warriors outgained the Rovers 449-258, but four turnovers and 14 penalties doomed Moniteau.

Cody Wise rushed for 96 yards on 15 carries for the Warriors.
